Uniform Resource Locator: This is the code that identifies the location of an Internet resource. All World Wide Web resources' URLs begin with http:. For example, the URL for CNN is http://www.cnn.com. Most Web browsers will display other Internet resources, besides Web resources. For example FTP (URLs beginning in ftp:), gopher, (gopher:) and newsgroups (news:).
