Working with ShopSite |
Here is a list of questions and answers about administering your store.
There is a list of some of the basic tags with examples right here in the ShopSite Help. Because there are so many tags and so many ways to use them, you should read a tutorial to learn more.
There are many, many HTML tutorials available for free on the Web, or you can go to almost any bookstore and find a dozen more. There are links to a few HTML tutorials right here in the ShopSite Help.
None of the built-in ShopSite page templates use HTML frames, but you can use custom templates or an HTML authoring program to create a frame-based layout for your store. There is a setting for the Checkout Screen to cause the order form to open in a new window or come to the top of the frames to make sure that the "secure connection" icon shows in the customer’s browser.
The currencies available for your store depends on how ShopSite was configured by the ShopSite Partner that is hosting your store. You can see all available currencies and select both a primary and alternate currency on the Preferences > Locale screen.
When you make additions and changes in the back office, you are changing the information that ShopSite uses to build your store -- you are not making changes directly to your store. You must click the Publish tab to tell ShopSite to rebuild your store before customers can see your changes.
Each time you publish your store, ShopSite recreates the pages in your store. If you edited an existing page, ShopSite erased that version when it recreated the page.
If you want to make changes to a page in your ShopSite store, you must do it from the Edit Page screens. If you want to use an HTML editor to create your store’s pages, you must use OrderAnywhere links.
You can change the password for your store by clicking on Utilities > Change Password.
At this time, the entire ShopSite back office is accessed with the same password. There is no way to restrict access to only certain parts of the back office.
Yes, more than one person can log into the back office of a store at the same time and make changes by using different browsers. However, only one person at a time should work in any given area of the back office. For example, one person could work on adding or editing products while another person worked on processing orders, but two people should not work on products at the same time.
It is relatively easy to move a store from one server to another. The amount of information that can be moved depends on the level of access to the servers and the server CPU types. There are detailed instructions for moving a store here in the ShopSite Help.
