Shipping

ShopSite Manager allows many different options for charging your customers for shipping. No matter what your merchandising strategy, you should be able to find a shipping method that meets your needs.

Shipping by Weight - If you choose this method, you must also enter a weight for each individual product - this weight field appears on the Edit Product and Add New Product pages. You can also use the power edit or database upload features to set product weights. The "lbs" designation is arbitrary. If your product is measured in grams, kilograms, or ounces, just make sure that the same unit of measure is used in both the shipping table and for the individual products. Your customers will not see the weight information.

Shipping by Dollar - This is the simple table that many mail order catalogs use. The price of shipping corresponds to the dollar amount of the products ordered. If you would like orders over a certain level to be free (to stimulate large purchases), you may do so by specifying $0.00 as the amount.

Flat Shipping - Every order is charged the same rate no matter how many items are in the order.

Flat Base Each Shipping - Every order is charged a flat, base rate plus an additional charge for each product in the order. A shipping field for each shipping option (next day, second day, etc) will appear on the Edit Product and Add New Product pages. You can also use the power edit or database upload features to set shipping charges for each product. Larger orders are charged higher shipping. This is an especially good system if all your products are approximately the same weight and size.

Flat Each Shipping - Each item is charged a flat shipping rate.

Base Shipping - If you choose this feature, a shipping charge field will appear for each product. The customer will be charged the total of all the individual shipping charges or the minimum shipping charge, whichever is greater. You specify the minimum charge there in the shipping handler. In this case, the base should be the minimum it would cost to ship any item. For example, suppose you have set $3.00 as your base shipping charge. A small item has been given a shipping charge of $.50 while a larger item has been given a charge of $4.00. The small item ordered alone would be $3.00 to ship. The larger item would be $4.00. The two ordered together would be $4.50 in shipping charges. A shipping field for each shipping option (next day, second day, etc) will appear on the Edit Product and Add New Product pages. You can also use the power edit or database upload features to set shipping charges for each product.

Base Plus Shipping - If you choose this feature, a shipping charge field will appear for each product. The customer will be charged the total of all the individual shipping charges plus the base shipping charge. You specify the base charge there in the shipping handler. In this case, the base should be the minimum it would cost to ship any item. For example, suppose you have set $3.00 as your base shipping charge. A small item has been given a charge of $.50 while a larger item has been given a charge of $4.00. The small item ordered alone would be $3.50 to ship. The larger item would be $7.00. A shipping field for each shipping option (next day, second day, etc) will appear on the Edit Product and Add New Product pages. You can also use the power edit or database upload features to set shipping charges for each product.

None - If you have no need to know the shipping method during checkout you can tell ShopSite to not prompt for Shipping.

Select the method of your choice in the pull-down menu, then hit the Change button. You will be given the option of setting shipping charges for regular, second day, and next day shipping. If you do not want to support one or more of these shipping types, uncheck the box next to it.
