Using a Secure Server with ShopSite ShopSite is designed to work with a secure server, so that sensitive payment information is never transmitted nonsecurely over the Internet. Your ShopSite software should be installed on a server with an SSL certificate, though your site's domain name does not need to be the same as the domain name on the certificate. Your store can be installed in any directory on the same physical machine as the one with the certificate. When a secure page is called up, the CGI will access the secure URL for that portion of the transaction. You do not need to have access to the secure server's CGI bin directory, only the cgi-bin for your directory, but the secure server must have rights to the subdirectory.
In order to configure ShopSite to work with your secure server, specify the secure URL to your CGI directories in Hosting Service page of the Preferences section ShopSite. If your regular ShopSite URL looks like:
http://www.domain.com/cgi-bin/ssyour secure URL will probably look like:
https://www.domain.com/cgi-bin/ssor evenhttps://www.securedomain.com/server/cgi-bin/ssNotice there is no trailing slash and there is an "s" at the end of https.
See the main ShopSite Installation Instructions page for more information on installing all versions of ShopSite.
