PayPal Commerce Platform Settings

Overview

PayPal Commerce Platform allows you to accept credit card payments.

Getting Started

Press the Connect button to sign into PayPal and begin the setup process. Follow the PayPal prompts until you are returned to the ShopSite screen where the Client ID, Client Secret, Merchant ID and Merchant ID in PayPal will have been pre-populated. No further modifications to these fields are needed on your part.

Setup

From the Commerce Setup screen, select Payment, under the Credit Card logos, from the pull-down list select PayPal Commerce Platform, then click Configure Processor. You will see a screen with the following fields:

Host
Will be set to Production. The merchant cannot change this setting.
Client ID
This value is automatically filled in when you Connect or Re-Connect to PayPal.
Client Secret
This is an encrypted value and only dots will be displayed. This value is automatically filled in when you Connect or Re-Connect to PayPal.
Merchant ID
This is your PayPal account. This value is automatically filled in when you Connect or Re-Connect to PayPal.
Merchant ID in PayPal
This is an alphanumeric value returned by PayPal. This value is automatically filled in when you Connect or Re-Connect to PayPal.
Order Transaction Type
Select whether to use Authorize and Capture (Sale) or Authorize (authorize only) mode when processing payments. If you must prepare products for shipping, you should use authorize only mode, then when your products are ready to ship, you can capture the funds from the Orders screen.
Use 3D Secure (Strong Customer Authentication)
Check to enable 3D Secure. This requires the shopper to perform an additional step to verify who they are. The verification step will vary by card issuer. Brand names for 3D secure include Visa Secure and Mastercard Identity Check.
Assume Liability
If 3D Secure is enabled ShopSite will reject any payments that do not pass. You can check either box to allow certain failures to pass. The merchant will then have an additional liability for those orders based upon their merchant account agreement with each payment network.
Error message for failed 3D Secure challenge
Indicate the message to be displayed to shoppers when there is an error.
Display Error Details
Check this box to have detailed error messages appear when a PayPal error occurs during the order processing. Typically, you only want this on to trouble-shoot a reported error.

Fill in the proper values and click Save and Enable.
