States and Countries

The fields on this screen define the states and countries that your customers will be able to choose from when entering billing and shipping addresses. They also affect what countries and rates will be displayed if you offer UPS or FedEx shipping:

If you are only offering UPS or FedEx shipping, the settings on this screen define the shipping destinations that customers can choose to calculate shipping costs.

If you offer both UPS or FedEx shipping and ShopSite Shipping by Weight, UPS or FedEx rates will not be displayed for countries that are not served by the carrier (indicated by a red X in the list of countries).

If you are a US merchant and you want to offer UPS or FedEx shipping within the United States but only offer ShopSite Shipping by Weight to all other countries, you must enable (check) all the countries that you will ship to, but disable all UPS or FedEx international shipping methods.

States

State/Province

Select whether you want your customers to type the name of their state or province into a text field or whether they can select from a pull-down menu. You define the contents of the pull-down menu in the State/Province List field.

Note:

If you are using UPS Address Validation, it is highly recommended that you choose to use the pull-down menu.

State/Province List

If you are using a pull-down menu for State/Province selection, this field defines the choices that will be available in the menu. The default menu includes selections for all 50 United States as well as the Canadian provinces. You can add or remove states or provinces from the list to suit your needs.

To add a state or province to the list, enter the name on a new line. After the state name your customers will see, you may add a semicolon, then the two-letter state abbreviation:

California;CA

The semicolon and anything after it will not be displayed in the pull-down menu, but will be passed to UPS or FedEx, and the custom Shipping Add-On, if they are enabled. You can also add informational lines that are invalid choices by adding a semicolon and an n after the choice name:

As with other options, the semicolon and anything after it will not be displayed in the pull-down menu. If an invalid choice is selected, customers will be required to select a valid option from the list to calculate shipping costs or continue the checkout process.

Countries

Checkout Screen Countries

Select whether you want your customers to type the name of their country into a text field on the checkout screen or whether they can select from a pull-down menu. You define the contents of the pull-down menu in the Country List field.

Default Selected Country

Select the country that you want at the top of the list as the default selection for customers if you are using a pull-down menu.

Country List

Use the country list to enable country-specific features:

Use - Check the box for the countries that you want to accept payments from and ship orders to.
Name - You can change the name of any country (the default names are all in English).
Free Ship - Check the "Free Ship" box for the countries that you want to offer free shipping to.
UPS - UPS does not ship to all countries. A red X indicates that UPS shipping is not available to that country. Any non-UPS countries that you select will not be used if you configure UPS shipping, but may be available with other shipping methods.
FedEx - FedEx does not ship to all countries. A red X indicates that FedEx shipping is not available to that country. Any non-FedEx countries that you select will not be used if you configure FedEx shipping, but may be available with other shipping methods.
