Database Download

This screen allows you to confirm or cancel your choice to download one of your store’s databases. Downloading a database converts the database to a standard file format and places that file on your local computer or on the ShopSite server.

1. Verify that the database listed is the one that you want to download. Also verify that the status of the database is shown as "OK." Do not back up or download a database with errors. If the database shows errors, click the Status link to see detailed information, then contact the technical support department of your service provider for assistance.

 

2. Choose the optional settings for this download:

    

   • For most databases, you can choose to either download the file to your local computer (browser), or save the file on the server that hosts your store.

   Warning:

   If you download the orders database to your local computer, you must ensure that customer information remains private and secure. ShopSite cannot encrypt or protect information on your local computer.

   Note:

   If you are using manual (offline) payment processing, and are capturing CVV data, downloading order payment information will cause the CVV number to be removed from ShopSite.

    

   • For the Orders and Products databases, you can choose to download the information in a tab-delimited text file or a QuickBooks file format. Click the Configure button to set the parameters used for the QuickBooks file format. If you use the tab-delimited text file, you must select a version for compatibilty. Unless you are using a third-party program that requires a specific version, you should select version 7.0.

    

   • When downloading orders, you can also choose to have customer billing addresses copied into the shipping address fields if the customer did not specify a separate shipping address. If you do not select this option, the shipping address fields will be blank for those orders.

    

   • For backward compatibility, you can choose the download file format from several previous versions of ShopSite, or use the latest version to download all order information.

 

3. Specify the file name and a file extension that matches the file format that you’ve chosen. For example, tab-delimited text files often have a ".txt" extension and QuickBooks files are ".iif". You can select an extension from the drop-down list or type in a different file extension. (Note: Although "xml" appears in the drop-down list, XML download is not available in ShopSite Manager. The data will only be downloaded in the text or QuickBooks format selected with the radio buttons, regardless of the file extension that you type here.)

 

4. Click Proceed to extract the database and start the download operation.

 

5. Click Cancel after the download has completed.
