ShopSite System Requirements

Prior to installing the ShopSite software, your server must meet the following requirements:

• Operating systems:
  • Linux kernel version 2.2 or greater with glibc 2.1.3 (Intel/x86 servers)
  • Solaris v2.6 or greater¹ (Sparc servers), with the complete 2.6 recommended patch cluster installed, including Sun Patch 107733-10
  • FreeBSD 4.3 or greater² (Intel/x86 servers)
  • BSDI 4.0.1 or greater (Intel/x86 servers)
  • Irix 6.x or greater (SGI servers)
  • Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2003 Server

  ¹ - If you are using a 64-bit version of Solaris, you may need to install some 32-bit system libraries in order to install and run ShopSite.

  ² - If your server is running FreeBSD v5.x, you will need to install the v4.x compatibility libraries before you can install and run this version of ShopSite.

• Web Servers:

  ShopSite should work with any NCSA-compatible Web server that has SSL support. Popular Web server software that is known to work includes:

  • Linux/Unix:
    • Apache
  • Windows Server:
    • Microsoft Internet Information Server version 5 or higher
• Other Software:
  • availability of an SMTP server such as sendmail
  • NTFS file system (on Windows Server systems)
• Hardware:
  • Linux/Unix
    • 266MHz Pentium
    • 64 MB System RAM
    • 25 MB + 2 MB/store (average) to run, + 25 MB for install files (only needed during installation/upgrade).³
  • Windows Server
    • 400MHz Pentium or greater
    • 128MB System RAM
    • 25 MB + 2 MB/store (average) to run, + 25 MB for install files (only needed during installation/upgrade).

  ³ - The size of a ShopSite installation and the installation files will vary based off the variation of Linux/UNIX you are using, but most are 25 MB or less.
