Enabling New Features in ShopSite 7.x

In some ShopSite malls or shared CGI installations, some merchants may want to use the new features in ShopSite 7.x while others may not want to pay the upgrade fee. Although the upgrade program upgrades all stores that share ShopSite CGIs to ShopSite 7.x at the same time, the major new features are not automatically enabled. Stores that do not have the new features enabled will not be charged an upgrade fee. These features include:

Note:

If you have older stores that have the old .auth file format, the new features won't be enabled for those stores until you get new .auth files.

To Enable New Features for A Store

Follow these steps to enable the features in version 7.x for an individual store.

  1. Run the upgrade procedure to install version 7.x.
  2. Using a terminal or telnet session, find the file in the ShopSite install directory named store.bak and rename it to store.auth. (You need a valid store.auth file to run the wwwinstall.cgi program, but it doesn't matter which store the auth file is for.)
  3. Use your browser to run wwwinstall.cgi again.
  4. From the ShopSite Install Menu, select Mall Feature Administration and click Continue.
  5. On the Enable New Features screen, select the store for which you wish to enable or disable the new features. Click either Enabled or Disabled and then click Update Store.
  6. Repeat the above step for as many stores as necessary.
