VeriSign PayFlow Pro

ShopSite Pro and ShopSite Manager contain fully-integrated support for the PayFlow Pro service offered by Verisign Payment Services (formerly Signio, Inc.).

Note:

VeriSign Payment Services is not available on all operating systems supported by ShopSite. See the Payment Processor Matrix for a list of payment processors available on each operating system.

Overview

VeriSign delivers a flexible service designed to accommodate the varied processing needs of sellers, from those who have a few orders a day to those who process thousands of transactions daily. The Payflow Pro client is built in to ShopSite, so you do not need to download or install any additional software.

Follow the steps below to get started with VeriSign. You do not have to do the steps in this exact order, but you must complete all the steps before you can use ShopSite and VeriSign to process payment cards in real-time.

  1. Apply for an Internet merchant account that works with VeriSign. If you do not yet have a merchant account, you can obtain one through NPC.

  2. Open a VeriSign gateway account by filling out the form on the VeriSign registration page for ShopSite merchants. (Note that you must select "Vital" in the Processor field if you are using an NPC merchant account.) This establishes a temporary test account until you provide your banking and payment information.
  3.

  4. From the VeriSign Manager site, select the "Go Live" button to complete the VeriSign account activation process. You will be prompted to select a service plan. Select Payflow Pro. Then provide your Internet merchant account and payment information.
  5.

  6. Fill in the fields in the ShopSite VeriSign Settings screen as explained below.
  7.

  8. Begin processing transactions.
  9.

Setup

Note:

Some of the configuration settings are determined by which version of the VeriSign software your account uses. If your VeriSign account information says to use https://manager.signio.com/ as a server, you are using the V2 platform. If it says to use https://manager.verisign.com/, you are using V3.

From the Commerce Setup screen, click Payment, then select VeriSign Payment Services and click Configure Processor. On the VeriSign screen, fill in the following fields:

Processor
(read only) Indicates that you will be processing credit card transactions with VeriSign.
Host
The name of the VeriSign server that will process your transactions.
  • For test transactions with VeriSign’s V3 platform, set this field to test-payflow.verisign.com.
  • For live transactions with VeriSign’s V3 platform, set it to payflow.verisign.com.
  • For test transactions with VeriSign’s V2 platform, set this field to test.signio.com.
  • For live transactions with VeriSign’s V2 platform, set it to connect.signio.com.
Port
The port on the VeriSign server to send transaction information to. This field should be set to 443, unless VeriSign tells you otherwise.
Order Transaction Type
Specify the type of transaction that you want ShopSite to process when a customer places an order. For most situations, you should leave this set to A.
A
A stands for "Authorization" and it is the normal transaction method for ShopSite. When a customer clicks "Submit This Order," ShopSite sends the transaction to VeriSign for authorization, the transaction is authorized, and ShopSite is notified of the authorization. A "hold" for the amount of the purchase is placed on the customer's credit card, but the funds are not "captured" until the merchant goes to the Orders screen in ShopSite and clicks Bill Orders.
S
S stands for "Sale" and tells ShopSite to authorize a transaction and captures funds all at once. ShopSite sends a transaction to VeriSign for approval, the transaction is approved, ShopSite is notified of the approval, and the transaction automatically settles during the next settlement period without any further action by the merchant.
Billing Transaction Type
Specify the type of transaction that you want ShopSite to process when you click the Bill Orders button. For most situations, you should leave this set to D for "Delayed Capture."
VeriSign Payment Services Partner ID
Enter your VeriSign Partner ID. If you were referred to VeriSign by your bank, your Partner ID is probably related to that bank’s name. If you were not referred by a bank, your Partner ID is probably VeriSign. If you do not know your VeriSign Partner ID, go to manager.verisign.com and click the link that says, "Click here if you don’t know your partner."
VeriSign Payment Services Vendor Name
The name of the VeriSign vendor or partner through which you signed up with VeriSign. If you don’t know your Vendor Name, try using your VeriSign Login Name.
VeriSign Payment Services Login Name
Enter the Login Name that you used when you registered for your VeriSign account.
VeriSign Payment Services Password
Enter the password for your VeriSign account.
Display CVV2 Entry Box
Check this box to have ShopSite include a text box on the order form for customers to enter the CVV2 value from their credit cards. See the Payment Setup help for an explanation of CVV2.
Require CVV2 Entry
Check this box to make the CVV2 field a required field on the order form.
Send Tax Amount
Check this box to send tax information to VeriSign with each order. Ask the bank that has your merchant account if they require this information.
Display Error Details
Check this box only when setting up a new VeriSign account and making test purchases. If there are any problems with the transactions, the customer will see details about the error. Hopefully that customer is you just making test purchases. Turn this option off when you are ready to accept real transactions.
Address Verify Service
AVS matches the credit card number and address that the customer supplied against the billing information for the credit card account. By using AVS, you may be able to get a lower rate with your bank. AVS can only be used in the United States.
Reject on AVS Failure
Check this box to reject transactions in which the ZIP code doesn't pass the Address Verification test.

Fill in the proper values, click Save Changes, and you're all set. If you use the test host and port to test your configuration, it is okay to use real credit cards to make test purchases. Test transactions go through a simulator, and do not actually interact with the financial network.

Testing

You can do some testing before going live, either by using the test host and port on the VeriSign Settings screen, or by using your VeriSign account information. You do not need to have signed up with an acquiring bank to get a VeriSign account that you can use for testing. Note that address verification will not work on test accounts.

  1. On the VeriSign Payment Services Settings screen, enter your VeriSign account information.
  2.

  3. Go to your store and purchase a product using a credit card. For test purposes, a Visa credit card number of 4000 0000 0000 0010 will work.
  4.

  5. After you see the screen receipt from ShopSite, go to the Orders screen in ShopSite, select the order you just made, and click View Order.
  6.

  7. You should see a line with the words *VPS* and simulator under Ordering Instructions.
  8.

  9. Press OK to return to the Orders screen.
  10.

  11. Select the order again and click Bill Order. You should see something like:
  12.

    Order
    Name Company
    Amount
    Status

    1237

    Typical Shopper Open Market

    1.00

    Billed

  13. Return to main Orders screen, select the order, and click View Order again. The Ordering Instructions line should now contain *VPS-BILL*.
  14.

If you get these results, you can be sure that the software is working correctly and that the VeriSign client program was able to reach the VeriSign server.
