Screen: ShopSite > Commerce Setup > Order System
On this screen, you enter the information that you would like to convey to customers after they have begun to select their products. ShopSite will walk them through ordering, but you can personalize the experience in many ways. Before configuring your store, try ordering something from another store using ShopSite, such as a demo store like Tina's Toys, so that you know exactly what you would like to say at each stage.
Shopping Cart Page ColorsMake selections here to set the colors used in your store's shopping cart to match those in your store, or even select a background image. See the ShopSite Color Reference Chart for examples of all available colors. |
Text Color |
This sets the default display of nonlink text in your shopping cart to the color you choose. Be sure to choose a dark color (black is usually best) unless your background is dark, because you want to make sure your text is easy to read. |
Background Color |
The entire background of your cart will be displayed in the color you choose here, unless you select a background pattern (see below), in which case the pattern will appear instead of the color. Be sure to choose a light color for the background unless you have selected a very light color for your text. |
Link Color |
Unvisited links to other sites will appear in the color you select here. |
Visited Link Color |
After the link has been clicked on, and the page has been visited, the color of the link will change to the color you select here, to let people keep track of where they've been. |
Active Link Color |
The color selected here will only be visible at the exact moment they are clicking on the link. Use a bright color here to add pizzazz. |
Table Shade Color |
You can change the default gray table shading to another color. |
Background Image |
If you have uploaded an image of a textured background to your media directory, you can use that image as a background for your shopping cart. Be careful, though, as the image will tile, meaning that it will appear multiple times as a repeating pattern, so it's a good idea to use images that were designed specifically for backgrounds. Use the radio button to select the method for finding your image. |
Shopping Cart ScreenThe following fields allow you to customize the text on the shopping cart screen. |
Text at the Top of the Shopping Cart Screen |
You can customize the text that appears on your customer's shopping cart page in this field. You may want to give them brief instructions on how to proceed through the shopping cart as well as remind them to specify size and color for some items, or provide an explanation of tax or shipping costs (this will be where they choose which type of shipping they want.) |
Create an Ordering Instructions Box |
If this box is checked, there will be a box on the shopping cart page for customers to enter comments about the items they are ordering. You can ask for specific information or give instructions by entering text into the "Text at the top of the Shopping Cart Screen" field. Remember that this field is not for specific instruction about a particular product, such as size or color, but for the whole group of products. Individual product options should be specified under Ordering Options in the Products section. |
Return to Shopping Button |
Specify what function the Return to Shopping button should have. Choose between returning the customer to the last page that they ordered from, or specify another page within your store for all customers to return to from the shopping cart screen. |
Text at the Bottom of the Shopping Cart Screen |
You can customize the bottom of the screen with your store's footer or include final reminders before the customer places his order |
Minimum amount an order can be |
If you want to require orders to be over a certain amount, enter that value here. Enter just the amount, with no currency symbol or non-numeric characters. Use zero to indicate no minimum value required. Also select whether the minimum should be enforced for the product subtotal or whether it should be calculated on the order total, which includes tax, shipping, and surchages. |
Text displayed to the shopper when using minimum order amount |
If you are requiring a minimum order amount, enter the text here that will be displayed to customers who try to finalize an order that is less than the minmum amount. |
Shipping ScreenThe following fields let you customize your shipping/billing screen: |
If the order form for your store appears in a frame, the customer's browser may not display the "secure connection" icon (a small key in the status bar), even though the order form is served from a secure sever. You can use this option to have the order form open in a new window or come to the top of the frames, either of which will show the secure connection. |
Text at the Top of the Shipping Screen |
You can customize the text that appears on your customer's payment page in this field. |
Create Customer Comments Box |
If this box is checked, there will be a box on the payment page for customers to enter comments about payment or their overall shopping experience. You can ask for specific information or give instructions by entering text into the "Text at the top of the Shipping Screen" field. |
State/Province |
Select whether you want your customers to type the name of their state or province into a text field or whether they can select from a pull-down menu. You define the contents of the pull-down menu in the State/Province List field.
State/Province List |
If you are using a pull-down menu for State/Province selection, this field defines the choices that will be available in the menu.
You can optionally enter choices in a format that displays the full name to customers but uses the abbreviation for the actual shipping value and the UPS Address Validation Service. To use that format, type the full name of a choice, then a semicolon, then the abbreviation, such as California;CA. |
Create an add to e-mail list box |
Check this box to add a checkbox on the order form that customers can use to request to be added to your e-mail list -- an "opt-in" e-mail marketing program. When you are viewing or downloading orders, you can see which customers checked the box, and then you can add their addresses to your mailing list. Note that you can define the text that appears next to this box, so you can use it for purposes other than an e-mail list.email list opt in |
Add to e-mail list box checked by default |
Check this box to have customers automatically added to your e-mail list unless they uncheck the option on the order form. |
Text displayed for add to e-mail list |
Enter the text that you want displayed next to the e-mail list box. |
Text at the Bottom of the Shipping Screen |
You can customize the bottom of the shipping page with your store's footer, or include final reminders before the customer places his order. |
Thank You ScreenThe following fields allow you to customize the Thank You page as well as the e-mail receipt that the customer will receive. |
Information on the Thank You Screen to Return to Storefront |
By default the Thank You page will display an image link that will return the customer to the storefront. You can change the destination, as well as the image, or remove the link here. |
Text at the Top of the Thank You Screen |
After they have submitted payment information, a thank you page will come up. This is a good opportunity to give any final instructions or give customers an idea when they should expect their package. It may also be a good time to suggest another site that they should visit. |
Text at the Bottom of the E-Mail Receipt |
The text you enter here will appear on the e-mail message that your customer receives after placing an order. Remember that this is text for e-mail message and should not contain HTML. (Any HTML will be stripped out for the e-mail messages.) |
Text at the Bottom of the Thank You Screen |
You can customize the bottom of the Thank You page to display your store's footer or any other final items you wish to convey to the customer. |
