Value Added Tax (VAT) Options

Use the VAT Options page to enable and disable value-added tax for your store, and to configure how ShopSite should calculate the Tax.

VAT Choice

If your country does not have a value-added tax, such as the United States, leave this set to "VAT doesn't apply to my store." If your country does have a VAT, select "VAT applies to my store" and click the Change button.

Note: In addition to enabling VAT here, you must also create a VAT profile in the Commerce Setup section of the Commerce Center before ShopSite will add VAT to your products.

The following fields are only visible if you selected "VAT applies to my store" and clicked the Change button.

Price Includes VAT

Check this box if you have already calculated the VAT into the prices of your products, and you don't want ShopSite to calculate any additional tax. Please study the example VAT calculation to fully understand how ShopSite calculates VAT based on this option.

Note: This option applies to all products in your store. You cannot include VAT in the price of some products and have ShopSite calculate VAT for other products.
1-10

Use the ten lines to create any VAT categories that you need, and to set a tax percentage for each. For example, if your store sells bicycles and clothing, you might want to name one category "Equipment" and set the VAT percentage for that, and name another category "Clothing" and set a different VAT percentage for that. When you create or edit products, you can select the correct VAT category from a drop-down list, and ShopSite will automatically apply the corresponding VAT.

The built-in category, "Exempt From VAT," allows you to sell items in your store, such as food, that may be exempt from VAT in your country.
