Installing ShopSite Patches

ShopSite Inc. makes "patches" available between releases of ShopSite when the patches are required to resolve problems experienced by merchants or shoppers. Because some problems are related to the operating system on which ShopSite is installed, not all patches are required for all operating systems.

If you are experiencing a problem with ShopSite and are not running the latest version (currently 6.3), you are strongly encouraged to upgrade. In addition to new features, each new version contains all patches to previous releases, and possibly additional fixes. Besides, the upgrade is free. You can find links to all available versions of ShopSite at www.shopsite.com/help/install.html.

If you have been told by a customer support engineer to install a ShopSite patch, or you've found an article in the knowledgebase saying that a patch is available, follow these instructions to locate the file, download it, and install it.

  1. If you are a ShopSite merchant, contact the ShopSite partner that is hosting your store and ask them to install the latest patches.
  2. If you are a ShopSite partner, contact ShopSite support to obtain a username and password for FTP access to our partner support area.
  3. Follow the instructions from ShopSite support to FTP the patches to your server. Be sure to use a binary mode transfer.
  4. Patches are usually a newer version of a cgi file that was originally installed as part of ShopSite, so each patch will have the same name as an existing file on your server. Locate the existing file in the ShopSite directories and make a copy of it or back it up to some other location.
  5. Copy the patch file over the existing file.
  6. Repeat the last two steps for each patch file that you downloaded.
