Working with ShopSite |
Here is a list of questions and answers about using ShopSite’s Order API.
ShopSite can run any CGI program via the Order API interface. ShopSite will run the program when the customer completes a purchase, just prior to displaying the Thank You screen to the buyer. (You can configure ShopSite to not display that screen if your application displays an equivalent screen). Because ShopSite calls the CGI program after the order is complete, the program is not able to modify the order in any way. See the Order API help for more information.
Yes, if your program is a Perl script then it must end in a '.pl' extension. ShopSite will then call the perl interpreter (perl.exe) and pass it your script for processing. Note that ShopSite CGIs are binary executables and thus the Windows server has been configured to execute files with a .cgi extension in the shopsite directory as an executable and not as a perl script.
