Store Authorization File

Before installing the ShopSite software you must download the "store.auth" file specific to your site. Instructions on where to download this file will be e-mailed to you when you purchase the software. The store.auth file contains encrypted information about which kind of software you have purchased and where it will be installed. The store.auth file is a kind of a key, which allows the ShopSite software to run. ShopSite will not work without a store.auth file, which must be generated for each site. The store.auth file uses the output URL of the Web site to make sure that the same key can't be used for two sites.

If you move your Web site to a new server, you will need a new store.auth file. To obtain a new auth file contact the hosting provider at the new site. You will need to supply your current Store ID (Login Name), Store URL, Serial Number, and Product Type (e.g. ShopSite Pro, Manager, Starter). Most of this information can be viewed in ShopSite from the Preferences > Hosting Service screen.

Before installing, the store.auth file must be in the same directory as the ShopSite installer program. Once install is finished, the store.auth file will be renamed and placed in your data directory. Symbolic links (aliases) to the auth file will be placed in the shopping cart and back office directories. The store.auth will be renamed to your store ID name followed by the ".auth" extension. For example, if your store ID is "mystore" then your store.auth file will be renamed to "mystore.auth" and placed in your data directory.
