New Features in ShopSite 7.1

Merchandising

• Gift Certificates (Pro)
  Merchants now have the option to allow customers to buy e-mail or mail gift certificates, and to redeem them from the check-out screen. The appearance of the certificate order screen and of the e-mail and mail certificates are all completely configurable using Custom Templates.
• New Coupon Features (Pro)
  
  • Single Use coupons allow merchants to issue a one-time coupon to individual customers.
  • Product-specific coupons can be applied to all qualifying products in the cart, or on a one product discounted per coupon basis.
• Increased Control of Product Search Results (Pro, Manager)
  The appearance of the Product Search Results is now completely in the control of the merchant. Layout Preferences and Custom Templates, including override templates for page links and products to create uniform results, make it possible to keep the search results page consistent with the rest of the store's appearance.
• Templates for Search and Gift Certificates (Pro, Manager)
  The appearance of Product Search Results screens, and of Gift Certificates and the Gift Certificate order screen in ShopSite Pro, are controlled by Custom Templates, giving the merchant complete control over the look of the site.

Products and Pages

• XML Upload and Download Capability (Pro)
  Custom programs can now be used to upload or download Page and Product databases in XML format.
• Improved Tools for Linking Pages and Products
  Linking pages and assigning products to pages is now done by opening a pop-up window with separate lists of assigned and unassigned items. This makes it easier to see and change what has or has not been assigned.
• Additional Tools for Managing Images
  
  • Functionality to move and rename images and sub-directories has been aded to the image management screen.
  • The ability to preview images has been added to the image selection tools on layout configuration screens.
  • HTTP standards-based file naming is now enforced to ensure images appear properly in browsers.
• Enhanced Digital Download File Management (Pro)
  The ability to create download sub-directories and to move and rename files and directories from the Digital Download management screen has been added.

Shopping Cart

• Merchant Shopping Cart JavaScript (Pro)
  Merchants can now add their own custom JavaScript to the default ShopSite cart checking routines.
• YourPay Payment Gateway Support
  YourPay is a real-time online payment gateway service now integrated into ShopSite's payment processing tools.
• WorldPay Payment Processing Support
  Built-in support for WorldPay Payment Processing makes it easy to accept payments from customers around the world.
• Improved Support for PayPal
  
  • International currency can now be used with PayPal.
  • Customers who have trouble with PayPal will not lose their cart data
• New Shopping Cart Features
  
  • A default shipping method can be set by the merchant to avoid errors if customers forget to select one.
  • The amount a customer has saved by using a coupon can be displayed in the order information.
  • Product Names on the shopping cart screen can be set to link to the the product More Info page or the page the product was ordered from.
  • An Update Cart button can be displayed to allow a customer to view changes after modifying the cart contents.
  • Customers can be allowed to redeem gift certificates on the shopping cart screen.
  • Merchants can select not to display unused fields in orders.
  • Minimum values for Free Shipping can be calculated before or after coupons are applied.

Security

• Order System Security Tools
  Intruder detection tools include warnings if untrusted computers access order information, reminders for merchants to change the password, and logging of activity in the order system.
• PayPal/WorldPay Fraud Detection
  Information used when using PayPal or WorldPay is checked against the original order to prevent unscrupulous customers from trying to obtain merchandise without proper payment.
• Human Order Validation
  Merchants have the option to include a tool in the shopping cart that prevents programs from using the store to test or use stolen credit card numbers.

Additional Features

• Enhanced Database Functionality
  ShopSite's database tools have been improved, including improved database design, the ability to use custom programs to upload or download Page and Product databases, improved XML support, and database optimization tools.
• Improved Customer Registration Features (Pro)
  
  • Registered customers can save payment information for any payment type.
  • Customer Registration links can be included on any store page.
  • Customer sign-in improved to avoid potential security warnings.

Customer Registration

• Customer Registration (Pro)
  Customers can register with a store and have ShopSite remember shipping addresses, payment information, etc. Customers can be assigned to groups and automatically get coupons when they log in.

Shopping Cart

• Shopping Cart Templates (Pro)
  Custom templates can be applied to the shopping cart and registration pages to extend a store's look and feel beyond the product pages, and to allow for additional customization.

 

• Cart Confirmation Page (Pro, Manager)
  ShopSite can display a confirmation page showing all order information before the customer finalizes the order.

 

• Optional/Required Address Fields (Pro, Manager)
  The merchant can optionally remove or require some cart fields such as Company, Phone Number, etc.

 

• Enable/Disable Quantity Box (Pro)
  Option for the shopper to only change quantity on the catalog page and not in the cart.

 

• "Remove" Button in Shopping Cart (Pro, Manager, Starter)
  Products added to the shopping cart can display a "Remove" button.

 

• HTML Customer Receipt (Pro, Manager)
  Order receipt e-mail messages to customers can be formatted in HTML so that they look better and can support additional customization.

 

• Display Only Subproduct Name (Pro)
  The parent product name does not have to appear next to the subproduct name in the shopping cart.

 

• Turn Off "Show shopping cart..." Checkbox (Pro, Manager)
  Merchant's can control the "show shopping cart..." checkbox - whether it appears and it's initial value (checked or unchecked.)

 

• JavaScript Variables During Checkout (Pro)
  Order information such as Product SKU, Sub-Total, etc. are now available as JavaScript variables on the cart screens for programs to access. Useful for associate tracking or to pass to a 3rd-party statistics package.

 

• Mini Cart on Product Pages (Pro)
  A shopping cart summary can be displayed on the store's product pages.

Payment Gateways

• Paymentech Orbital Gateway (Pro, Manager, Starter)
  An interface to the Paymentech Orbital Gateway for real-time credit card processing is built in to all ShopSite products.

 

• Better PayPal Integration (Pro, Manager, Starter)
  ShopSite now uses PayPal's IPN (Instant Payment Notification) to track when a purchase is actually paid for. ShopSite will now only add a PayPal order when notified of payment from PayPal.

Shipping

• Free Shipping (Pro, Manager)
  Merchants can offer free shipping if the order sub-total meets a threshold amount. This option can be restricted to certain countries and exclude certain Zip codes.

 

• Disable Handling Charge (Pro, Manager)
  Handling Charge can be disabled if the subtotal reaches a merchant-defined limit.

 

• Shipping Tax in Tax Total (Pro, Manager, Starter)
  If Shipping is taxable, the tax can now be included in the tax total or in the shipping total (as done in 6.x)

 

• Four New Parameter Fields for the Shipping API (Pro)
  Four new fields brings the Shipping API total to 8 customizable fields.

Pages

• Automatic Multi-Page Generation (Pro)
  ShopSite Pro merchants can limit the number of products displayed on a page so that store pages will not be overly long. If there are more products assigned to the page, ShopSite will automatically generate additional pages, and the pages will have navigation links so that customers can move between them.

 

• Page Preview (Pro, Manager)
  You can Preview changes to a page before publishing (this feature was previously only available in ShopSite Pro)

 

• Copy Page (Pro, Manager)
  Merchants can create new pages by copying existing pages in their store. The new pages will have the same settings as the original page (with the exception of a few distinctive fields). This can save time and ensure that pages are consistent throughout the store.

 

• New Definable Page Fields (Pro)
  Five merchant-definable page fields are now available for use by Custom Templates (similar to the merchant-definable product fields)

Products

• Copy Products (Pro, Manager)
  Merchants can create new products by copying existing products in their store. The new products will have the same settings as the original page (with the exception of a few distinctive fields). This can save time and ensure that products are consistent throughout the store.

 

• Variable Pricing (Pro)
  A shopper can input the price they wish to pay for a product. Useful for donations or auction payments

Images

• Image Handling Improvements (Pro, Manager)
  Merchants can create image subdirectories to organize images and other media. Images can be selected from easy drop-down lists, or from powerful popup windows.

Miscellaneous

• Better QuickBooks Import (requires Pro)
  A client-side application uses ShopSite's XML download to import Orders via QuickBooks QBXML interface.

 

• Print Pagination when Viewing Orders (Pro, Manager, Starter)
  When a merchant prints multiple orders while viewing them in the back office, the orders will print one per page.

 

• Template Editing Improvements (Pro, Manager)
  New template editing options:

• More Themes and Templates (Pro, Manager, Starter)
  New Rounded and Sidebar themes have been added to give merchants more page layout and color selections.

 

• Order API Chaining (Pro)
  Multiple programs can now be called from Order API
